February 2017

February 7, 2017
So the baptism went really good this past Thursday. It was really hectic at first because we no longer have a car so we had a member give us a ride up to the building. When we got there I forgot the key to get into church so we had to go back and get it. Then when we got into the building... we had a key to open the baptismal font but not a key to open the lock box in the bathroom to start the water. So we were calling everyone to figure out where a key was.  No one had a key. Finally after an hour we called the Stake Clerk who is in our ward and he was like "the key is in the cleaning closet" Sure enough it was and we got the font filled.

We got the room set up and everything ready.  Then I realized I forgot my white pants. I was baptizing one of the boys. So I called our Ward Mission Leader and he was able to stop by the apartment and bring them to me on the way. (which was nice) They had a few jumpsuits but none of them fit me. Just as the baptism was starting... I realized I forgot a extra long sleeve white shirt. So after the baptism I was wearing a wet shirt the rest of the night and it smelled like chlorine which was fun!!!

Other then that the baptism went really well and I am doing good. I have been sick since Friday.  Now I am starting to feel a little better. It seems like everyone here is sick.  But don't worry Mom, I hear it has only killed 114 people so far.
Love you all.

I don't have a long letter. This week was boring. Not boring but not a lot happened. Our investigator pool is going down and we are not finding any new. Most all of this week we went around talking to part member families trying to find people that way but no one was interested.

We do a lot of less active work because there are so many less actives but still not a lot comes from that either. As in... they don't come to church. Everyone thinks that there life is fine without the gospel and they are just stubborn. Ya... they might not be like struggling, they might have a good job and things like that but that's just all the worldly garbage.  They forget about all the blessings that come from following the gospel. They are not going to have there nice car or there money or worldly things after this life.  All they will have is there family. But if they don't do what they are supposed to here and go to church and follow the commandments they won't even have there families. But they don't think about that they just think about the NOW. They are stubborn.

We have been walking and riding bikes. Last week we had 8-9 inches of snow. The most they have had since 1995. The snow has melted now.  Transfers are next week so I will email Tuesday. Also I hope one of us gets transferred.  I have been losing my patience. Our personalities just don't go together.
Love you all.

Hey family,
So it was a OK week. This week we found a few really good potentials so hopefully something comes of them, but... I'm getting transferred!! It will be sad to leave Orting but I won't be going far. I'm going to still be in the same zone. My new area will be in Victor Falls with Elder Andrew White. Elder White is pretty cool he has been my District Leader. He is from Nephi, Utah and is super cool and big into hunting!! Like cowboy hick stuff so we are kinda the same ha ha. Victor Falls is kinda a ghetto area though I was just there this past week on exchanges and I have been there a few times. There is not a lot of work that goes on there like ever. So idk. But we will see. I'm super excited for my new companion. It will be fun. I will have to go on exchanges all the time because the District Leader is always going on exchanges. I don't know. Sometimes I just like to stay in my own area. ha ha. But it will be fine. I will have a car and yes I will take my bike.
Love you all

So this week was a good week. I am still in the Enumclaw Stake / Zone. I'm even still in my same District as my last area.  So I didn't go to far. My new companion is Elder Andrew White. He is from Nephi, Utah and he loves hunting so we get along pretty well!!

Tuesday was transfers and we had a miracle happen that day within 45 minutes of being together. We went to Panda for dinner and while we were there we got a phone call from a lady named G. A month ago Elder White and his last companion were at the church building and this lady pulls up. They did not know her. So they went and talked to her. It was G.  She said that she has had a feeling for the past year that she needs to go to this church. Elder White tried to get her phone number or her address so that they could go and teach her but she wouldn't give it to them. They left her with a Book of Mormon and our phone number.

Anyways this past Tuesday a month later G. gave us a call. So the day I got there. She said she wanted some missionaries to come and pray with her. That night me and Elder White went over to her house and talked with her. Her husband is an alcoholic and her youngest daughter is 28 and in jail. She has depression and lots of other things and all this extra stuff is hard on her. We taught her a little about the restoration and about the atonement and invited her to start reading and praying about the Book of Mormon and promised her that as she did so she would start to find peace and joy in her life! As we were leaving she said that she felt the spirit the moment we walked in the door. That was really cool!

We go back to her house 2 days later to see how she is doing and she just looked so much better and there was just something about her. She answered the door with the Book of Mormon in her hand. In the past 2 days she had read 109 pages in the Book of Mormon!! She loves it and says she is addicted to it and knows that it is true! She said she can't put it down. What's even more amazing is that she is understanding and remembering everything that she is reading! She is marking scriptures and was sharing scriptures with us! It was crazy and so amazing to see that change that she had in just 2 days of reading the Book of Mormon.

I know and I have already seen that the Book of Mormon truly does change lives. No matter what the struggle is that you are going through.

I'm going to invite all of you to read the Book of Mormon daily!! I never did when I was back at home but now I wish I would have. I never knew how powerful it was and how many blessings come from it until I came out on my mission. Especially after I was privileged enough to be able to witness the change in G. after only 2 days. She was almost glowing. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that the church of Jesus Christ has been restored and that there is a living Prophet on the earth today. I'm so grateful for the gospel in my life and our family really has been blessed because of it.
Start reading your Book of Mormon more!!
I love you all!

January 2017

January 2, 2017
Not a lot to write about this week.  It was kinda a slow week.  No one wanted to talk cause they were all just to busy.  Do you want to hear a funny story about prayer.  So we were going into this gated community and when we pulled in there was a car parked and they were trying to type the code it to open the gate.  The gate was not opening.  So I  ran up there and I typed in the code we have and it didn't work. I  looked at them and it was an Asian family and there was a bunch of them and they were like "it not working"  So I looked at them and it was a small car with like 8 people in it that could hardly speak English.  I was like lets say a prayer and they looked at me like I was dumb.  I said a short prayer in front of them they they just stared at me it was so funny.  I typed the code in and bam it opened!!!!!  Haha I looked at my companion who was sitting in the car behind them and he was laughing it was funny!!

The 2 boys are the twins we are teaching and they are now on date for February 4, 2017.
Yes. Elder Duncan is being transferred and I'm kinda scared.  So a new companion. The mission is also taking the car so we will now be a bike area and it is getting colder and wet.  I made Elder Duncan be a clean missionary and our apartment is always spotless so hopefully my next companion is clean or else he is gonna learn!!
I love you all.

January 17, 2017
I  got a new companion.  His name is Elder Scheidell.  He is from Murry, Utah.  So I did not email yesterday because it was a holiday and the libraries were closed.  I will also email next Tuesday but it will be after 1 because we will be going to the Seattle Temple.  I am excited.  My new companion has been out 15 months. I'm doing good. Really nothing to special has gone on this week.  Lots of just the same things.  There is a special training on the 24th.  There is a "big change" coming so maybe Ipads??

We got home late from the Seattle Temple and so we don't have long to email.  The temple was so good today. It was so pretty.

Things are going good here!! We have 2 baptisms that are this week. The twin boys.  So we are excited for that. It will be this Thursday. They are good kids and they have basically raised themselves because of family circumstances.  A great family in the ward has has helped them a ton!! That's like the most exciting news so far. Other then that things are the same. This new missionary change will be interesting to see how things go. It is just a schedule change. But nothing to different. We basically get to decided when we want to have our companion study throughout the day and our lunches are only 30 minutes instead of an hour. Pday is longer. It is from 8 to 6 instead of 10 to 6. That will be nice.  Sounds like everyone is doing good.  We had some missionaries from another religion come and knock on our door the other day and that was funny.  You should have seen the look on their faces when we opened the door and they saw we were Mormon missionaries. It was priceless.  I have everything I  need thanks though.

Federal Way Finding Day...

Family,

Sorry.  I don't really have a weekly email to write this week it was just an average week.

This past Saturday was fun. It was the Washington Federal Way Mission finding day. So basically the whole mission just went out and found all day long. Well from 10 am to 5 pm. But it was fun. So we met with our zone at a building and we all got new companions.  Then we all went to Buckley for two hours to find there. Then after that 2 hours we met back at the church and got new companions and we went out finding for another 2 hours in Enumclaw.  After that 2 hours we met back at the church and got new companions again and then we all went down to Orting to find for 2 hours there. It was fun!! I learned a lot from 3 different missionaries and lots of investigators were found that day. We are going to do this for the next 2 Saturdays!!
(Elder Palmer, Elder Fenton  and Elder Knight were my companions for the day)

That is about it though.  Nothing else was two exciting.  ha ha.  Next Sunday I will be face timing from 6-7 so from 7-8 Utah time!!! I will be face timing so find out who has the best iPhone and I will call them!!

look what I got in my email:

Dear Elder Iverson
You have hereby been called to serve in the Philadelphia Pennsylvania
mission you will report to the Mexico MTC on January 24.

Thank you Elder Stucki for being such a great example to me.
I will soon be able to join you in the field
Hayden

Oh and please no more toys.  I have a ton and I don't use them.  You just don't have time to play around.
BUT!!  I'm going to give them all to this single mom who has a couple little kids on Christmas night!!
I'm excited I get to doorbell ditch... but for a good reason.  I'm sure this ladies kids will love it.  So they will go to a better cause.  So I am glad I got them!! I'm excited to drop it all off.

Love you guys.

Snow and teaching...

Hey fam!!

I had a good birthday I guess.  I forgot it was my birthday the whole day because it's just another normal day. But it was good!

Our investigators are doing good. We had one at church. She is in her 50's and her daughter is in our ward. Her daughter was a convert.  She dated a boy most of high school who was a member and he ended up baptizing her and they got married. She is 20 now.  She is really happy.  Her mom is wanting to find that same happiness and so she is investigating. She is on date to be baptized January 7th.  So hopefully it works out for her. She has had a rough life.

Then there are 2 twins that are 14.  I have told you a little about them. They are on date for December 31st. They are the nicest kids.  They basically live with a family in the ward because they come from a rough home. Their mom lives in a trailer and is into a lot of bad substances.  Their dad we don't know a lot about because he is not really in the picture.  Their parents got a divorce along time ago. The mom has custody and said it is okay if they get baptized.  We are going to set up a time hopefully this week to go talk to her and have her sign a form saying its okay.

Then there is another guy who's in is 50's who has had a way rough life.  He lives in not the best home with other not so good people. He is really trying to change his life.  He works a ton because he is trying to get out of that house. He is on date for January 7th.  But it is not going to work because he just left to go to visit his daughter.  He wont be back until about the 7th and there is still a lot to teach him and things he needs to start living.

Also there is a boy who is 14 and his 10 year old sister whose grandparents and dad are members just really less active who are on date for January 14. They really want to be baptized and their dad and grandparents want them to be baptized.  They spend a lot of Sundays practicing for dirt bike races or they are at their moms house and she is anti. So there are a few things we have to work with there.

We have some other people who we are working with too but those are the ones on date. So good things are going on. It snowed Thursday and it was a lot of fun.  We went out on bikes and would pull our brakes and slide and stuff.  Elder Duncan wrecked like 5 times and broke the brakes on his bike but it was fun.

Also we were visiting a member in a gated old folks community and after wards we went to visit some families who are on the ward directory who we didn't know who they were and the fist family we went to just said they are not interested and so we went to the next couple.... and they used to be members but not anymore.  They totally flipped out!! It was this old couple and they went crazy swearing at us saying we were trespassing and how did we get in because it is a gated community and then they called the cops. Elder Duncan was just like sorry bye and started walking away.  I was just trying to explain to them that we were just visiting a family that lived there and we wanted to introduce ourselves to them because we saw they were in the ward but we didn't know who they were.  But they wouldn't listen and by then Elder Duncan was like 2 houses down from were I was.  Anyways he wanted to leave but I said no lets wait and talk to the cops and explain what happened so it doesn't look like we are trying to run.  So we waited around and they never came so we just left. But it was an interesting experience. ha ha

and that was basically my week

love you guys
